The compensation and resettlement structures for people who have been affected after a natural disaster has hit are currently insufficient and fail to consider the wellbeing of individuals affected. Capabilities provides a scientific framework to assess these peoples' situations by going beyond simple asset loss and considers the wellbeing of individuals.
