Second semester TRAM Track is here! It’s time to meet the cohort.

Abi Ward · September 21st, 2021

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to our second semester Track cohort! That’s right, for the second year running, the dedicated team at TRAM is delivering two Track programs!

This semester our Track teams are working on improving the lives of hay fever sufferers, enhancing the efficiency of solar devices as well as speeding up the recovery time of skin care wounds.

What a diverse bunch of researchers we have the pleasure of working with this semester!

TRAM Track teaches researchers to really explore and understand who their customers are, delve into the problem their research is trying to solve and find a best-fit solution for their customer.

This semester, Track is being headed up by TRAM’s Program Coordinator Bonnie Zhang who is really excited to be working alongside some amazing talent:

“We initially hadn't planned on running a second semester of Track but interest in research impact has never been so high! This is the most amount of TRAM teams we’ve ever had across all programs - Track, Runway and Air. It’s a real testament to the amazing researchers in our ecosystem looking to forge their ideas to the next level of impact. We’ll continue to cater to their passion rain, hail or lockdown!”

The eight-week program will finish with a bang as we celebrate with the inaugural ‘TRAMamaganza’, an event that celebrates all things research-impact and showcases the incredible work and journeys of our Track and Runway teams.

TRAMaganza will be held on Thursday 11 November – make sure you’ve signed up to our newsletter for information on how to secure your tickets.

2021 TRAM Track Semester 2 Cohort:

  • Next Generation Solar is making existing solar devices more efficient by capturing more of the sun's energy. They have developed a new material film that can be incorporated onto existing panels that promise cheaper solar power and can be deployed into existing infrastructure.
    (Faculty of Science)
  • Culture Catalyst is improving team culture within startups by creating a digital software platform that helps the team to become more aligned and more successful.
(Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology)
  • Melbourne Pollen provides the community with daily pollen count data on their website and mobile app, allowing hay fever and asthma sufferers to understand and control their symptoms. The team is looking at ways of building a hay fever diagnostic tool for individuals and healthcare providers.
    (Faculty of Science)
  • Hyper Stable Protein Team is utilising their chemistry expertise by building a semi-synthetic platform to improve the stability of proteins and enzymes. This has wide application in increasing shelf life of protein therapeutics (medicine), food and beverages.
    (Faculty of Science)
  • Wound Care provides education to patients who have chronic wounds, helping them to understand how to effectively care for their wounds. Wound Care also gives nurses and healthcare workers a framework and the ability to teach their patients to self-care and self-manage their wound.
(Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences)
